On May 11th The Mountain Goats shared a new song, 'The Slow Parts on Death Metal Albums,' from their upcoming album, Dark in Here.
Lead singer and songwriter John Darnielle wrote the autobiographical song about time he spent driving to metal shows in Long Beach. After its release, Darnielle took to Twitter, writing,
"A time of being adrift, of being uncertain, a time with more fear of the unknown than hope for the future for me, I can see now. Anyway! That is what the song is about, and I know who I am now: I’m the singer from the Mountain Goats. Enjoy!”
Dark in Here, The Mountain Goats' third album released during the pandemic, will be available on June 25th and will include the previously released 'Mobile.' The band will also be hitting the road on tour this summer, kicking it off at The Orange Peel in Asheville NC on August 6th.
