Mitski has kicked off her 2022 tour in North Carolina.
The line of concert-goers was wrapped all the way around the parking lot of The Ritz in Raleigh on Friday night as fans awaited the second show of the artist's North American tour. Mitski played to a sold-out crowd at the mid-sized venue.
Japanese band CHAI opened the show with an energetic and beautifully whimsical set. The group demonstrated their natural talents as performers as they amped up the crowd. Their charisma and charm captivated the audience as they bounced around onstage with frenetic glee. If the crowd wasn't already amped up enough for Mitski, CHAI ensured that the audience was wholly prepared to have their minds blown.
CHAI's third album WINK was released May 2021.
Mitski took to the stage with a force of elegance that is incredibly unique to the singer-songwriter. She started the show with "Love Me More," a synth-pop track from her new album Laurel Hell.
The elated crowd was spellbound from beginning to end by Mitski's sublime voice. Fans were able to sing their hearts out to favorites such as "Nobody" and "Me and My Husband."
Mitski gave a subtle and sweet performance that will most likely live for a very long time in the minds of those lucky enough to witness it
Her fifth album Laurel Hell was released on February 4, 2022 and has had chart-topping success, earning the #1 spot for US Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums on Billboard. 2022 is looking to be a huge year for the artist, with an almost completely sold out tour and a spot as an opener for Harry Styles.
