Josh Tillman has returned with his first album as Father John Misty in four years, Chloë and the Next 20th Century, out now via Sub Pop and Bella Union.
Father John Misty recorded the new album with Jonathan Wilson. The record comes packed with lush strings, brass, and woodwinds performed by Dan Higgins and Wayne Bergeron. Arrangements are from Drew Erickson. Ultimately, Chloë and the Next 20th Century has more of a cinematic edge than the rest of Tillman’s repertoire.
The 11-track album is a stunning, orchestral soundscape with retro sensibilities. Throughout the record, Tillman channels his quintessential dreamlike lyricism, making for some fun-loving, surreal stories.
