Angel Olsen Covers Men Without Hats’ ‘Safety Dance’

Angel Olsen has shared a cover of Men Without Hats’ “Safety Dance” from her forthcoming ’80s covers EP, Aisles.

Earlier this month, Olsen added her own twist to Laura Branigan’s “Gloria.” Olsen’s cover of “Safety Dance” is just as brooding as that one. Olsen adds a gloomy, droning sound to the upbeat anthem. The way Olsen makes this famous track her own will leave you awestruck. You’ll find yourself crooning along as she sings renowned lines like, “We can dance if we want to/ We can leave your friends behind.”

The forthcoming EP was recorded in Asheville, North Carolina with co-producer/engineer Adam McDaniel. Aisles will see Olsen covering Billy Idol’s “Eyes Without A Face,” Alphaville’s “Forever Young,” and more.

Aisles is out digitally on August 20th and physically on September 24th via somethingcosmic. Pre-order Aisles here and listen to "Safety Dance" below:
